First woman priest honoured by college.


The life and work of Rev. Li Tim-Oi Florence Li Tim-Oi (Chinese: 李添嬡 Cantonese Lei Tim'oi, Mandarin Li Tian'ai; 5 May 1907 in Hong Kong – 26 February 1992 in Toronto) was the first female priest to be ordained in the Anglican Communion. , the first woman priest in the Anglican Communion Anglican Communion, the body of churches in all parts of the world that are in communion with the Church of England (see England, Church of). The Reverend Li Tim-Oi Resource Centre, which is based at the University of Waterloo The University of Waterloo (also referred to as UW, UWaterloo, or Waterloo) is a medium-sized research-intensive public university in the city of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The school was founded in 1957. , will comprise a memorial reading room and archives and is intended to help future generations to learn about the life and work of the ground-breaking priest. It will also house Ms. Tim-Oi's personal papers and will incorporate materials from the college's East Asian and Anglican collections.

 as a deacon in 1941, Ms. Tim-Oi was priested by Bishop R. O. Hall of Hong Kong in 1944. She served the church in Hong Kong, Macau, China and retired in Toronto in 1981. She died there in 1992.

Funds for the resource centre were raised by a committee and from a donation by Anglican Foundation.

Renison also marked the 61st anniversary of Ms. Tim-Oi's ordination to the priesthood with a May 1S service at a church in Scarborough, Ont.
