First toothfriendly chewy candy with Palatinose[TM].

BENEO-Palaunit and Bosch Confectionery present the first toothfriendly chewy candy with PalatinoseTM.

The new product was shown at this year's Smart and Healthy Sweets Symposium organised by German college Zentralfachschule der Deutschen Susswarenindustrie (ZDS) in Solingen. BENEO-Palatinit, manufacturer of function--al carbohydrates, and Bosch Confectionery, supplier for complete confectionery production lines, worked in close cooperation to develop the first toothfriendly candy to contain PalatinoseTM rather than polyols.

PalatinoseTM is the first toothfriendly sugar approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Already used in toothfriendly chocolate and beverages, it can now be used in chewy candy, such as fudge. Through the development of PalatinoseTM, which is fully digestible, BENEO-Palatinit has been able to address negative digestive side effects that are often the result when using other functional sugar replacers. These benefits of PalatinoseTM have opened up new opportunities to confectionery manufacturers.

With its expertise in ingredient development, BENEO-Palatinit worked in continual conjunction with Bosch, utilising the company's proficiency in processing technology. Following numerous formulation tests on properties such as taste and texture, as well as an ongoing exchange of industry knowledge and experience, BENEO-Palatinit and Bosch developed the first toothfriendly fudge in this year's early summer.
