First signs of recovery.


ALTHOUGH the number of applications to build new homes for sale in the three months to the end of May is less than half the total recorded in the same period of 2008, a "mild recovery" may be underway, says the National House-Building Council.

 figures confirm the third successive quarter-onquarter rise in the number of applications. Nearly 19,300 were received in the quarter to the end of May, which was 19% higher than the figure for January-March 2009.
