The purchase, made on a MasterCard credit card, came as a "complete jolt" to Spot webmaster A person responsible for the implementation of a Web site. Webmasters must be proficient in HTML as well as one or more scripting and interface languages such as JavaScript and Perl. They may also have experience with more than one type of Web server. "I saw the order come in and thought `someone's having us on,' but the computer verified the credit card and address as Bosnia Herzegovina. With the images we see everyday in the media out of Bosnia, you don't envision someone coolly sitting at a computer interacting with a Web series and ordering logo clothing!"

"THE SPOT," launched on the World Wide Web June 7, revolves around the daily happenings of five attractive, twenty-something housemates living in a legendary California beach house.

Pulling in as many as 110,000 page hits a day, the popular series was awarded the first "Webby See WBI. ," the Internet's equivalent to the Oscars, on Aug. 30, at a ceremony in Hollywood. The Internet's World Wide Web, with its ability to offer graphics, video, sound and text, has become popular with an estimated 30 million users around the world.
