First reindeer parade is a hit.


MORE than 6,000 people lined the streets to watch a reindeer parade in South Wales South Wales south nsud m du Pays de Galles .

The town of Aberdare welcomed Santa on his sleigh sleigh: see sled. , pulled by six reindeer, as part of Rhondda Cynon Taf's first winter parade of 2008.

During the parade, the Christmas lights were switched on and there was also a Santa's grotto, funfair rides and food stalls.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Robert Smith said: "We are delighted that our first parade in Aberdare was a great success.

"We hope everyone will join us at our forthcoming festive events."

Members of TEDS - a voluntary group that offers training and education support in substance misuse - supported the event with a bucket collection.

All the money collected on the night will go to the Mayor's chosen charities - the British Heart Foundation The British Heart Foundation is a charity organisation in the United Kingdom that funds research, education, care and awareness campaigns aimed to prevent heart diseases in humans. , TEDS and the Special Baby Care Unit at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

Mountain Ash is the next town centre in the Cynon Valley to host a reindeer parade on Tuesday, December 2, from 5pm until 7pm.

Also joining in the free festive fun will be Jack Frost plus the Ultimate Dance group and there will be a Santa's Grotto and funfair.
