The Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a small (50 nm in size), enveloped, single-stranded, positive sense RNA virus in the family Flaviviridae.

) in HIV+ patients. This treatment is the first one approved for patients co-infected with HIV and HCV. Also, patients taking Pegasys in combination with nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors ("nukes") should be monitored closely for side effects, particularly liver problems.
