First contract.

Material Technologies Inc. received its first contract for testing the structural integrity of three bridges in Pennsylvania. The contract with the state's Department of Transportation involves the use of a technology the Los Angeles company said it has spent 10 years developing and is capable of finding below-the-surface cracks as small as 0.01 inches. The company noted the state has some 3,500 bridges, only half of which are tested annually.
