In a Malabar tradition arising from the first century of the common era, the apostle Thomas reached Kodungallur in Kerala in 52 AD where he began preaching the new religion of a risen Christ or savior named Jesus of Nazareth. Assuming this tradition is historically accurate, the question arises as to where he was ministering and teaching during the preceding two decades between the death of Jesus in about 33 AD and his arrival in Kodungallur. There is another tradition concerning Thomas about his going to the northern provinces of India The Provinces of India were those portions of India ruled directly by officials of the British East India Company and, from 1858 to Indian independence in 1947, by Great Britain.  and preaching to the communities there. "First Voyage Of The Apostle Thomas To India" by James Kurikilamkatt (a priest belonging to the Missionary Society of St. Thomas the Apostle St Thomas the Apostle, Judas Thomas or Didymus, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus.
