Worldwide (Nasdaq:TSAI TSAI Transaction Systems Architects Inc ), a leading international provider of EFT processing applications, announces the addition of a file management application to its BASE24(R) product suite. BASE24-file manager(TM) enables users to download and collect files from Diebold, Incorporated ATMs--eliminating "sneaker ware" while reducing the need for costly site visits.

First Union, a leading US financial institution, is the first to go live with the expanded functionality, and recently used BASE24-file manager to distribute Year 2000 (Y2K See Y2K problem and Y2K compliant.

"The ability to send software fixes through our existing ATM communication network helped us reduce the costs associated with dispatching a technician to each and every ATM. In addition we were able to better monitor which ATM had been upgraded," said Jim Spicer, vice president of First Union. "BASE24-file manager also gives us the ability to target market banking services by distributing specific graphics files to selected ATMs. We can advertise and promote specific services at a single ATM, or series of ATMs, and update the marketing messages electronically."

The expanded functionality is the result of a joint engineering effort between ACI and Diebold. The two partnered to write a special agent piece for Diebold ATMs that enables the ATMs to communicate with BASE24-file manager.

"This project illustrates Diebold's ability and commitment to provide our customers with solutions which solve real problems," said Roy Shirah, senior director, product planning Product Planning is the ongoing process of identifying and articulating market requirements that define a product’s feature set. "We are thrilled that the Diebold and ACI BASE24-file manager solution is working so well for First Union," said Ed Mangold, senior vice president of ACI Worldwide. "The cost savings associated with reducing site visits, and the ability to efficiently deliver files in a safe, controlled manner, are the results we expected. To make this an open solution for our customers, we have developed partnerships with other vendors enabling the deployment of this technology across a broad spectrum of ATM and POS (1) See point of sale and packet over SONET.
