First USA Issues Countrywide Home Loans Visa Card.


WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 1997--First USA, one of the nation's leading credit card providers, announced it will begin offering a Countrywide Visa card this month. Countrywide Home Loans, Inc., the nation's largest independent mortgage lender and servicer, will offer the card to its current and future mortgagors.

Applications for the Countrywide Gold and Platinum Visa cards will be mailed to more than one million Countrywide customers, with subsequent mailings planned for new homeowners. Countrywide and First USA also plan to make the card available to consumers during the home loan process.

"Our borrowers rely on Countrywide to make the home loan process as easy as possible," said Stan Kurland, president, Countrywide Home Loans. "Now, with the Countrywide Visa, we can offer them additional spending power The power of legislatures to tax and spend.

The no-annual fee Visa card features a 5.9 percent introductory interest rate; a credit line up to $50,000; a money-saving balance- transfer option; and 24-hour, toll-free access to customer service representatives. In addition, Countrywide and First USA plan to offer Cardmembers the opportunity to participate in First USA's Value Miles(SM) travel program.
