First US eco-city to become reality.

Destiny, located in Osceola County in central Florida, will be America's first eco-sustainable city and the largest planned environmental development in the United States.

The city is being designed to attract leading eco-friendly companies and environmental research groups, which will create higher paying "green collar" jobs, announced Randy Johnson, COO of Destiny.

"The vision of the Destiny team is to develop a truly sustainable community, which guarantees the preservation and protection of the region's land and its natural habitats, while also providing unique employment opportunities," Johnson stated.

Encompassing 65 square miles, Destiny will incorporate sound environmental planning and cutting edge clean technology to produce a completely new urban landscape. The city will feature a multi-modal transportation system, NextGEN aviation, ample open space, and hundreds of miles of walking and riding trails.

Arup, an internationally recognized design and engineering firm, is working closely with the Destiny team to turn their vision into reality.

"We are excited to bring our global expertise in planning sustainable cities to Destiny, which will show how a low carbon lifestyle can be beneficial to residents and good for the economy," stated Sir Peter Head, Director, Arup.

Destiny will be bound by waterways, lakes, open spaces, and agriculture and aquaculture buffers, eliminating the possibility of future urban sprawl. Residents will enjoy hundreds of miles of walking and riding trails, along with over 200 miles of navigable waterways, which will offer recreational opportunities and serve as a key component of Destiny's multi-modal transportation system. Less than 60 percent of the city's land will be developed.

Destiny will also include homes in every price range, as well as rental properties, to encourage diversity across age and socio-economic backgrounds.

Destiny is the vision of Anthony V. Pugliese, III, president and CEO of The Pugliese Company, a leading land development corporation.

Pugliese and his partner, Subway Restaurants co-founder Fred DeLuca, purchased the 41,300-acre property in 2005. Destiny is located near Disney World, and less than two hours from several major cities including Orlando, Tampa, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach.
