First PC product to feature DTS-ES capability.


Setting a new benchmark for the PC, the new Sound Blaster Audigy Sound Blaster Audigy is a sound card series from Creative Technology. It is a PCI add-on board for PCs.

The Sound Blaster Audigy featured the Audigy processor (EMU10K2), an improved version of the EMU10K1 processor that shipped with the Sound Blaster Live!.
 2 ZS sound card from Creative Technology Ltd. is the first consumer product available for the PC to incorporate DTS-ES DTS-ES Digital Theater Systems Extended Surround (6.1 channel surround sound)  technology. See 5.1 channel and 3D audio.  technology, DTS-ES enables up to 6.1 channels of discrete surround sound, and also encompasses DTS-ES matrix and DTS (1) (Digital Theatre Sound) A digital audio encoding system used in movie and home theaters. Popularized by the movie Jurassic Park, the six-channel (5.  Neo:6 capabilities for a variety of content choices. DTS Neo:6 injects the power of surround sound into any stereo source material such as MP3 and CDs.

The Audigy 2 ZS soundcard complements a growing family of products that enable DTS surround sound via the PC, including software-based DVD players PowerDVD (CyberLink) and WinDVD (InterVideo), and hardware speaker systems such as Creative GigaWorks and Creative MegaWorks.

"Creative and DTS recognize that the PC is becoming a hub for entertainment much like the home theatre system," said Glenn Arentzoff, Licensing Manager, Emerging Markets at DTS. "As people increasingly use their PCs to play movies and music, they want the same high quality DTS surround sound that they get with their DTS-enabled consumer electronics products."

The Audigy 2 ZS is available in three versions beginning mid-September 2003, with an estimated retail price beginning at US$99.99.
