Mainsoft continues to be the leader in cross-platform single source-code solutions by providing Microsoft Technologies on UNIX UNIX

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
(tm). The development paradigm is shifting to Windows NT as the volume platform for threaded server applications. The ability to ship state-of-the-art Microsoft GUI and server technology on UNIX is required for solving the challenge of multiple platforms and scalability in the Enterprise.

Time-to-market is critical and providing MainWin 3.1 allows new or existing Windows-based applications to ship concurrently on UNIX with the same functionality and correct application behavior. As always users have the choice of the Windows look and feel or the Motif look.

"SGI is committed to Windows NT and IRIX interoperability and Mainsoft is delivering interoperability solutions," said Todd Johnson, senior vice president of marketing, Silicon Graphics. "We believe COM is a critical technology and it is exciting that it is working on IRIX 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4."

"HP is the leader in supplying integrated UNIX and Windows NT-based solutions. Cross-platform technology is a key element of integration and it's important to our installed base to have a partner like Mainsoft supporting HP-UX 10.20," says Gina Cassinelli, marketing manager of the Internet and Applications Systems Division

"MainWin 3 exceeded our expectations," said Tyler Gingrich, Ameritech Libraries Division vice president. "We have a three-tier architecture using Java, COM, and database technology. Leading libraries in the world need remote access for their patrons and that interaction spawns thousands of threads. MainWin is up to the job for our large mission critical application. DCOM shipping will allow us to query sister library databases and provide full service functionality."

"Softimage participated as a beta site for MainWin 3.1 on the SGI platform and we've been very impressed with the overall performance," said Marc Petit, director of 3D product development for Softimage. "Even with demanding products such as "Sumatra," our next-generation 3-D animation product, we intend to ship simultaneous versions on Windows NT and SGI IRIX."

"Alta Business Unit of Cadence is committed to providing powerful solutions to the High Level Systems Design marketplace. Graphical analysis environments connected to powerful application servers are an integral part of our technical solution. We use DCOM for connecting client applications to servers across Windows NT and UNIX platforms. Mainsoft has provided us with a complete solution for implementing Win32 for MFC applications that take full advantage of DCOM on UNIX platforms", said Mehrdad Hashem, architect of Cadence Alta Business Unit.
