First Command Establishes Intern Program with Texas Tech University.

The first intern has already been recruited for this year's nine-week summer program, which will offer paid work experience in the company's Fort Worth headquarters and local financial planning offices in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

"This program is designed to allow students interested in a career in financial planning an opportunity to experience the day-to-day life of a First Command financial advisor," says Kodak Horton, First Command's vice president and director of Performance Development and Training and proponent of the financial planning intern program. "While we hope that some of the interns may come back to work for First Command as an advisor in the field, all will gain valuable insight into the workings of the financial planning industry."

A second component of the program provides guidance and financial incentives for First Command's field leaders to establish paid internships -- ranging in length from nine weeks to one year -- in their local markets, which include more than 200 offices in the U.S., Europe and the Pacific Rim Pacific Rim, term used to describe the nations bordering the Pacific Ocean and the island countries situated in it. In the post–World War II era, the Pacific Rim has become an increasingly important and interconnected economic region. .

Deena Katz Deena B. Katz (Born February 12, 1950[1]) is an American Certified Financial Planner, author, and president of the Miami, FL investment firm Evensky & Katz. She also serves as a Practitioner in Residence at Texas Tech University. , the Texas Tech's intern program director, is enthusiastic about the First Command program.
