Firms urged to follow new code.


The Center For Responsible Appraisals & Valuations announced a nationwide campaign to encourage lenders, appraisers, realtors and others in the housing industry to sign a "Code of Conduct" to ensure homebuyers and homeowners receive accurate and fair appraisals for their homes.

Prompted by a dramatic increase in consumer complaints about appraisal fraud and overvaluation o·ver·val·ue

, the National Community of Reinvestment Coalition recently unveiled its plans for establishing The Center For Responsible Appraisals and Valuations, which will make public the names of housing-related businesses and companies that agree to the Center's code.

"By promoting the use of those who have agreed to the code of conduct, the public can be aware of those who have confirmed their desire to provide accurate, compliant and fair appraisals and valuation," said John Taylor John Taylor, or Johnny Taylor may refer to: Academic figures
