Domtar, Cascades and Unisource were sentenced to record fines of $12.5 million each and key persons involved in the conspiracy were removed from their positions in the paper merchant business.

Each company will pay the maximum $10 million fine for their behaviour in Ontario and $2.5 million for their activity in Quebec.

Findings revealed companies conspired to avoid competing with one another in the carbonless sheets market in Ontario from 1999 to Sept. 2000 and during 2000 in Quebec.
