Suzanne Turtle Millard, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Turtle & Hughes, an electrical and industrial distributor, has been honored as the head of the nation's fifth largest woman-owned business at DiversityBusiness.com's 4th Annual Multi-cultural Business Conference held at the Foxwoods Resort Casino Foxwoods Resort Casino is a hotel-casino in Ledyard, Connecticut. It is the largest casino in the world, as measured by floor space for gaming, with 340,000 sq ft (31,587 m²) [1]. The entire resort comprises 4,700,000 sq ft (440,000 m²) of space.  in Mashantucket, Conn.

The award recognizes Turtle & Hughes' high ranking See Google bomb.  on the Div500, an annuals listing of the nation's top woman and minority-owned businesses produced by DiversityBusiness.com.

It praises Millard's "leadership, entrepreneurship and outstanding community service."

Turtle & Hughes, a $224 million company based in Linden, New Jersey Linden is a city in southeastern Union County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the New York Metropolitan Area, being about 13 miles southwest of Manhattan, and bordering Staten Island, a borough of New York City. , also ranked third for small businesses nationwide, and second in the State and 14th in the U.S. for diversity-owned businesses.

Millard said, following the conference, "Women have been working hard and long behind the scenes in many industries, and I am glad to see them coming into the foreground and gaining recognition.

"I am proud to accept this honor on behalf of the entire staff of Turtle & Hughes, my family, and the women business owners Many online and offline organizations have been created to collect information about businesses around the world owned and operated by women. Many other organizations have been created to assist the women that own and operate those businesses.  of America."

She noted, too, that Turtle & Hughes has its own supplier diversity Supplier Diversity is a business program that encourages the use of previously underutilized minority owned vendors as suppliers. It is not directly correlated with supply chain diversification, although utilizing more vendors may enhance supply chain diversification.  program which "actively seeks the participation of women and minority-owned businesses."

The third generation CEO of the company her grandfather founded in lower Manhattan in 1923, Millard assumed control of the family business in 1970.

Together with her husband, Frank Millard, she propelled its expansion into the petrochemical, industrial and export markets.

Turtle & Hughes' 450 employees currently staff eight locations in New Jersey, Conn. and Texas.
