Firestone Agricultural Tire Division (Firestone), Des Moines, Iowa, contributed $35,000 to the Variety Club of Central Iowa at an annual fundraising telethon in March. Firestone President Ralph Burchfield presented the check at the event, which was held at the Adventureland Park Palace Theatre in Altoona Altoona (ălt

`nə), industrial city (1990 pop. 51,881), Blair co., central Pa., on the eastern slopes of the Allegheny Mts., near the source of the Juniata River; settled c., Iowa. In addition, Bridgestone / Firestone of Nashville, Tenn., matched all Miracle Pledges phoned in to Firestone employee volunteers. A total of 200 Miracle Pledges were received, which met their goal for this year.
