* An Interim Report *

The figures (below and right), from the BATF 1990 Interim Report on Production and Exportation of Firearms by U.S. Manufacturers, will be revised upward when all licensees have reported. However, these figures represent 95% of the anticipated final figures.

The 1989 figures shown are revised from those in the 1991 SHOT Show (December 1990) issue of SHOOTING INDUSTRY which were indicated to be interim. Overall, the 1989 revisions are increases, with shotguns up by 247,000, pistols and rifles each up by about 26,000, and revolvers by almost 7,000.

Total production in 1989, as shown on the BATF revised report, is 4,373,986 as compared with the earlier figure of 4,068,698. Exports for 1989 were 259,276 - about 20,000 higher than shown in the interim array, with almost all of the increase being in shotguns.
