Fire burns mobile home, injuring occupant.Byline: The Register-Guard COTTAGE GROVE - The owner of a mobile home at Dorena Mobile Home Park suffered minor injuries when a fire gutted the building Monday evening. Shortly after 5:30 p.m., neighbors heard breaking glass and saw flames coming from the mobile home in the center of the 20-unit park at 34848 Shoreview Drive. Neighbors used garden hoses to attempt to extinguish the flames. When firefighters arrived, half of the single-wide mobile home was engulfed, said Andy McClean, South Lane County Fire and Rescue fire marshal. The fire was put out within five minutes and did not spread to adjoining mobile homes, McClean said. The owner and sole occupant of the mobile home suffered a minor hand injury and was taken to Cottage Grove Hospital for smoke inhalation, McClean said. Officials did not release the victim's name. The cause of the fire is under investigation. McClean said the fire began in the bedroom portion of the mobile home. Damage was estimated at $6,000. A total of 10 firefighters from South Lane County Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze. No firefighters were injured in the fire. |
