Finlay Forest Products Extends Shutdown.VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 1997-- Finlay Forest Industries Inc. announces an extension to the two week temporary market shutdown previously announced on June 10, 1997.The announcement lengthens the current Site I sawmill sawmill, installation or facility in which cut logs are sawed into standard-sized boards and timbers. The saws used in such an installation are generally of three types: the circular saw, which consists of a disk with teeth around its edge; the band saw, which shutdown by one week to July 25 and in addition, will include the Site I planermill. Approximately 190 employees will be affected by this temporary shutdown. These shutdowns are necessary because of higher than normal lumber inventories and the continued market deterioration, both in the U.S. and Japan.
