Finkelstein also makes time to share his wealth of knowledge with aspiring lawyers. He is an adjunct law professor at New York Law School History New York Law School is one of the oldest independent law schools in the United States. The Law School was founded in 1891 by a group of faculty, students, and alumni of Columbia Law School led by their founding dean, Theodore William Dwight, a prominent figure in the , where he teaches landlord-tenant law, yet he donates all money from his teaching activities back to the school. He is also a long-time member of the New York County Lawyers' Association and for years has served on tha t organization's Board of Directors.
