Finelite in National Spotlight as Innovative Lighting Manufacturer.

Arizona Senator John McCain and California Governor Schwarzenegger Tour Finelite's Manufacturing Facility; Hold Roundtable With Silicon Valley CEOs.

UNION CITY, Calif. -- Finelite, a leader in designing and building high-performance, environmentally sustainable lighting systems, hosted a roundtable discussion with national leaders including Arizona Senator John McCain and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Innovation and Global Competitiveness. With a backdrop of Finelite's manufacturing facility, the leaders joined the CEOs of seven Silicon Valley companies including former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, and Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers, to discuss the role innovation and technology plays in a strong and vibrant economy. Finelite, with more than 100 employees and numerous awards, was cited as an excellent example of innovation.

Since its founding in 1991, Finelite has invested millions of dollars in independent research studies, illumination technology, product design, advanced manufacturing systems and environmental sustainability. The result has been fixtures engineered with the most efficient combinations of ballasts, lamps and optics available to produce the most light from the least amount of energy. The fixtures themselves also contain high percentages of recycled materials and special palletized packing allowing Finelite to eliminate the need for wasteful packing.

Senator McCain and Governor Schwarzenegger were able to experience Finelite's Integrated Office Lighting System (IOLS) firsthand during their office visit. With Finelite's products, typical offices can achieve lighting power densities as low as 0.50 to 0.65 watts per square foot. Lighting a significant number of offices with this approach would remove 1,000 MW from the California energy grid alone. Applied nationally, the potential energy savings using the IOLS approach could reach 28 billion kWh - equivalent to the output of 20 medium sized power plants and enough energy to power 4.7 million homes.

For the schools market, Finelite's Integrated Classroom Lighting System or ICLS helps reduce lighting-based energy consumption by an average of 52% over national standards. Cost savings can be redirected to buying more textbooks and hiring more teachers. Finelite's ICLS meets the requirements of several green building programs including both the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED[R]) and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS).
