Film Roman To Produce 'The Blues Brothers: The Animated Series' For UPN
"The Blues Brothers: The Animated Series" has received an initial 13 episode order from UPN for an expected Fall '98 premier. David Misch, whose credits include executive producer on the animated series, "Duckman," has been hired to oversee creation of a new format and direction for the series as well as the development of 13 scripts. The series will feature music from the Blues Brothers Band.
According to Phil Roman, "Our goal in re-examining our work during the hiatus has been to ensure that the tremendous potential of this series is realized. UPN's commitment to and belief in this project has been a vital part of reaching that goal. We look forward to working with the network to bring these famous characters back to television.
Jim Belushi and Peter Aykroyd will voice the roles of Jake and Elwood Blues originally made famous by their brothers. Phil Roman, Michael Waeghe, and David Misch are executive producers. Victor Pisano is coordinating producer. The series is based upon rights obtained from Judy Belushi-Pisano and Dan Aykroyd.
Film Roman is the Emmy Award-winning animation studio whose list of credits include "The Simpsons," "King of the Hill," "Bobby's World," and "The Mask."
