FilesAnywhere(TM) "MetaData" Adds Web-Based Database and Spreadsheet Features to Online File Storage.

DALLAS -- FilesAnywhere.com today announced new online database and spreadsheet features, called "MetaData," for users storing files over the Internet. FilesAnywhere MetaData enables users to create custom forms for any folder In a graphical user interface (GUI), a simulated file folder that holds data, applications and other folders. Folders were introduced on the Xerox Star, then popularized on the Macintosh and later adapted to Windows and Unix. In Unix and Linux, as well as DOS and Windows 3. , then enter and save any type of information along with files and folders. FilesAnywhere's new web-based spreadsheet offers data entry, search filters, file and data record browsing, data export and other file actions, all from one screen.

For example, a finance office adds a MetaData Custom Form to track data associated with contract documents. Team members are able to login Signing in and gaining access to a network server, Web server or other computer system. The process (the noun) is a "login" or "logon," while the act of doing it (the verb) is to "log in" or to "log on.  to FilesAnywhere, save new documents to the contract folder and enter details about the contracts. They might use a dropdown list to select a contract type, the status or which person is currently assigned. They might click the calendar to select a contract date, enter a phone number, or click an option button. Other team members, having shared access to the folder, may search for MetaData and make direct edits. Users also can select matching files and take file actions, like downloading files, uploading new versions, or sending an email link to customers so they can download the files.

MetaData adds new ways to organize files and to collect important information associated with files. Using the MetaData Spreadsheet, users can search for saved data across a number of files and MetaData records, or directly enter data in the spreadsheet. Users also can toggle To alternate back and forth between two states.
