Fighters corrigendum.

Our discussion of fighters (<<Gambling on 'Must-Have' Assets>>, published in Armada 5/2007) should have made clear that, whereas the Czech Republic is operating Gripens under a simple leasing agreement, the Hungarian contract is for a lease-buy, under which the aircraft will be owned after ten years. Since the article went to prink the Swedish Government has funded the upgrading of 31 JAS39A/Bs to C/D standard. In-flight refueling will be included, and provisions for the MBDA Meteor air-to-air missile (which has already been test-fired from a Gripen) are planned.
