Fight to ban porn vidoes.

THE British Board of Film Classification is to take legal action to prevent hard-core pornographic videos flooding into British sex shops, it was announced.

It is to seek a judicial review in the High Court in London.

It concerns a ruling that seven hard-core videos should be released with R18 certificates.

The ruling allows the videos to be supplied in licensed sex shops to people over 18.

The BBFC says the videos break guidelines by showing explicit close ups of sexually graphic material.

Earlier this year the censors refused to grant certificates for the videos, saying this would open the floodgates to hard-core porn.

But the distributors, Sheptonhurst Ltd and Prime Time Promotions, appealed against the decision to the Video Appeals Committee.

The committee is a body set up to hear complaints about film classifications.
