FiberCore, Inc. Announces Introduction of Their Line of ValueGrande and EconoGrande Optical Fibers.


CHARLTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 1998--FiberCore, Inc. (OTC symbol FBCE) announced today at OFC 98 in San Jose, CA, the introduction of their line of ValueGrade(R) and EconoGrade(R) optical fibers. These fibers are available in singlemode and multimode designs, and will be ideally suited for Feeder Loop, Fiber To The Curb, (FTTC FTTC - Faculty Technology Training Center
FTTC - Fibre To The Curb
), Fiber To The Home (FTTH) and Fiber To The Desk (FTTD FTTD - Fiber To The Desk
FTTD - Full-Time Training Duty
) applications.

The Company has filed patent applications for these products and ValueGrade(R) and EconoGrade(R) are pending registered trade marks of FiberCore, Inc. According to Dr. Mohd Aslami, President and CEO, the design of these fibers does not incorporate the use of phosphorous phos·pho·rous (fsfr-s, f. Charles De Luca, FCI's Executive Vice President, explained that the singlemode ValueGrade(R) is available immediately in large quantities at substantially lower prices than the current US published prices. The multimode ValueGrade(R) is currently available at competitive prices and we expect the large volume prices also will be significantly lower than the current list prices. We believe that these products, due to the significantly lower cost, will make FTTH and FTTD an economic reality.

FiberCore, Inc. presently has a manufacturing facility in Jena Jena (yā`nä), city (1994 pop. 100,090), Thuringia, E central Germany, on the Saale River. Manufactures of this industrial center include pharmaceuticals, glass, and optical and precision instruments., Germany which was expanded last year, and is in the process of setting up a manufacturing plant in Malaysia to serve the Far East markets. -0-
