"With 63 swan sculptures located throughout the greater Hattiesburg area, the vast majority of our citizens come into contact with the sculptures every day," said Cultural Development Director for the Area Development Partnership (ADP (1) (Automatic Data Processing) Synonymous with data processing (DP), electronic data processing (EDP) and information processing.

These striking outdoor sculptures, painted in a vast array of designs and colors, draw attention to the widespread positive role the arts play in welcoming new residents and businesses.

The "Festival of Swans" was funded by a grant from Women's Services of Forrest General Hospital and sponsorships provided by the ADP, educational institutions, and individual donors. Beginning with the black-tie Swan Ball Gala held last April at Lake Terrace Convention Center, it has launched numerous events and programs.

In August, a "SwanMania" reading project introduced six swan-themed books to the public and to area schools. A hardcover coffee table book of photographs by Hattiesburg photographer Brent Wallace features the intriguing swan sculptures that nest at business fronts and home sites throughout the city. The book, produced by Rare Design, is available for purchase at $29.95 through ADP.
