It is located in Lower Mosley Street. is joining forces with Manchester's musical giants to celebrate the piano. The Bridgewater Hall's international piano festival returns this weekend, bringing world class artists to the city and uniting all three of the Hall's resident orchestras - the BBC Philharmonic The BBC Philharmonic is a professional broadcasting symphony orchestra based in Manchester, England. It is one of five orchestras maintained by the British Broadcasting Corporation. , the Halle and the Camerata. Irish pianist Barry Douglas Barry Douglas (born April 23, 1960) is an Irish classical pianist. He studied piano, cello, clarinet and organ whilst growing up in Belfast. Barry Douglas first studied in Belfast and at 16 had lessons with Felicitas LeWinter, a pupil of Emil von Sauer - a pupil of Liszt. resumes his role of Artistic Director, after first directing the celebration in 2006. Topping the bill at Bridgewater Hall Piano Festival 2009 are Joanna MacGregor, Richard Goode, Nelson Goerner and Wayne Marshall. Their performances will be complemented by masterclasses and lunchtime recitals, some by young players competing in the final stages of the prestigious Terence Judd/Halle Award, jointly organised with The ManchesterMid-day Concerts Society. Festival highlights include a concert at 7.30pm tonight featuring Manchester Camerata and Joanna MacGregor (piano, director). The repertoire includes Britten: Young Apollo, Mozart: Concerto No. 9 in E flat K271 Jeunehomme, Piazzolla arr. MacGregor: Three Tangos and MacMillan: Piano Concerto No. 2. Tomorrow at 7.30pm, the audience can hear pianist Richard Goode play J S Bach: French Suite No. 5 in G major.
