Festival is sure to hit the right note; Music.

BIRMINGHAM'S On Song festival is set to feature a wide range of songwriters and styles.

Last week we revealed the scheduled line-up at Carling Academy Birmingham The Carling Academy Birmingham is a music venue in Dale End, Birmingham, England (not to be confused with the Academy at the NIA, as the nearby National Indoor Arena is known, when it hosts music events). It is run by the Academy Music Group.  and today we put the spotlight on the acts appearing at Bar Academy.

The festival, taking place throughout September at Carling Academy Birmingham and Bar Academy, Dale End, is supported by the Birmingham Mail The Birmingham Mail is a tabloid newspaper based in Birmingham, UK but distributed around Birmingham, The Black Country, Solihull, Warwickshire and parts of Worcestershire and Staffordshire. .

Sept 1: Catapult Club presents HMV/Kerrang FM! Showcase ft. Mile Wide Stride/ The Kamikazes/ Silent Riot/ The Stone Remotas. Take a peek at some of the top bands on the Birmingham music scene.

Sept 4: The Teenagers.

From Paris but now based in London, The Teenagers were conceived at Christmas 2005 after deciding to start a fake MySpace page for a fictional band. Posting lyrics on the site as a response to the messages they got from the page's visitors, before long they became actual songs. By autumn 2006 they had over 10,000 MySpace 'friends', a record deal, and commissions to remix New Young Pony Club Pony Club is an international youth organization devoted to the educating youths about horses and horseback riding. Pony Club organizations exist in over 30 countries worldwide. , Au Revoir Simone and the Black Ghosts.

Sept 5: Ben's Brother. Influenced by vintage R&B and early Rolling Stones, Jamie Hartman grew up, as the name suggests, in the shadow of his elder brother, Ben, an accomplished sportsman and soaring ad executive. Busking is the practice of doing live performances in public places to entertain people, usually to solicit donations and tips.
 on Portobello Road his songs began turning up on other people's albums and it was this that pushed him to form Ben's Brother.

Sept 6: Catapult Club presents Baise-Moi/ Nightshow/ Max Raptor/ The Procession. The stars of the future could be here.

Sept 7: Catapult Club presents Rednerv/ Blue Nation/ Lucid/ Sabotage Left. More local acts hoping for their big break.

Sept 9: Rooney. Formed in early 2000, Rooney are a five piece band of Los Angeles natives who signed with Geffen Records in 2002 after self releasing two EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) A PostScript file format used to transfer a graphic image between applications and platforms. EPS files contain PostScript code as well as an optional preview image in TIFF, WMF, PICT or EPSI, the latter being an ASCII-only format.  and establishing a loyal following around LA and Orange County.

Sept 11: John Bramwell (I Am Kloot). One of the reasons for I Am Kloot's rabid live following is John Bramwell's legendary stage patter pat·ter 1

 which means that no two shows are the same. He has recently played a raft of sold out acoustic shows across the UK, road-testing new material and allowing fans to hear older classics in an intimate setting.

Sept 13: Catapult Club presents Kings of the Deep End/ Old Ions. Another prestigious showcase opportunity for unsigned locals.

Sept 14: Catapult Club presents The Darlings/ The Riptides/ Circus Town. Catch these acts in a small venue before they move on to bigger things.

Sept 15: Ian McNabb. Ian McNabb is known both for his work as leader and songwriter-in-chief of the Icicle Works in the 1980s, and his critically-acclaimed solo career throughout from the early 1990s to date.

Sept 18: Euros Childs. For the uninitiated, Euros Childs was originally the frontman front·man

 Mynci. His new album, The Miracle Inn, is released on the ever-discerning Wichita Recordings, hot on the heels of the Bore Da LP.

Sept 20: Manchester Orchestra. Though Manchester Orchestra has only been a proper band for a year and a half, this young quintet - average age 19 - has crafted an album that sounds more aware and travelled than many of its more aged peers. Led by singer / songwriter / guitarist Andy Hull, their debut LP, I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child, is a statement cinematic in scope.

Sept 21: Catapult Club presents The Rebellion/ Senses/ Long Nines. The regular Catapult Club continues to unearth the best local bands.

Sept 22: Does It Offend You, Yeah? This trio arrived last year armed only with a fistful fist·ful

 of demos and the obligatory Myspace page. But their mad indie Playstation take on Daft Punk caught the ear of both Zane Lowe and Pete Tong, not to mention record company reps keen to secure their raw fusion of indie electronica.

Sept 23: Fast Reaction. After large scale internet exposure, Japanese record label Kick Rock Music signed an exclusive contract with Fast Reaction to release the first self titled EP nationwide across Japan.

Currently still unsigned in the United Kingdom, there are high hopes for interest to rise in the coming months.

Sept 25: Lost Alone. As well as appearing on Taste Of Chaos tour, Lost Alone have completed two UK tours with Electric Eel Shock and Skin, and also played support slots for Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Kooks and Wolfmother.

Sept 26: Akala. Beating heavyweights like The Game and 50 Cent to the coveted cov·et

Sept 28: Catapult Club presents The Brascoes/ The Daykings/ Octane Ok.

Sept 29: Catapult Club presents HMV/Kerrang! FM Showcase ft Mr. Bones & The Dreamers/ Grand Union Revival/ The Last Bullets/ Sweetcure.

Sept 30: Ska Trek with Grown At Home, Random Hand and The JB Conspiracy. Ska Trek: The Next Generation is three of the UK's up-and-coming bands, each with their own take on the ska-punk genre.
