Feminists celebrate 25 years of "progress".Toronto -- Another group of people who felt that they must honour their kind of "progress", were the "pro-choice" women who initiated the annual YWCA's Women of Distinction "award". They celebrated 25 years of advancement in their position in society. These particular women continue to see the 1969 abortion legislation allowing the killing of preborn babies as the pivot around which other advances have been made. One of their leaders, Judy Rebick Judy Rebick (born 1945 in Reno, Nevada) is a Canadian journalist and political activist. Rebick was a Trotskyist activist in the 1970s, active with the Revolutionary Marxist Group and its successor the Revolutionary Workers League. , a former Marxist and spokeswoman for Morgentaler, stated "that the legislation of abortion ... is the one that feminists hold most dear." Rebick is now Professor of Social Justice and Democracy at Toronto's Ryerson Technical University! The Toronto Star The Toronto Star is Canada's highest-circulation newspaper, though its print edition is distributed almost entirely within Ontario. It is owned by Toronto Star Newspapers Ltd., a division of Star Media Group, a subsidiary of Torstar Corporation. illustrated its full-page write-up with a large photo of Morgentaler in the 1980s.
