We characterized female partners of men with erectile dysfunction Erectile Dysfunction Definition

Erectile dysfunction (ED), formerly known as impotence, is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection long enough to engage in sexual intercourse.
(ED) enrolled in the Men's Attitudes to Life Events and Sexuality (MALES) 2004 study with respect to female partner attitudes, beliefs, and sexual experience. Consent was sought from all men with ED participating in the MALES 2004 study to interview their partners; 283 female partners subsequently provided consent and were separately interviewed via mailed or internet questionnaire. The same questions administered to males were presented to their female partners. Additionally, women were asked "before/since your partner experienced difficulties with his erection, how frequently (almost always, most times, sometimes, a few times, never) during sexual activity with your partner did the following (I experienced sexual desire or interest, I became aroused, I reached orgasm, I experienced sexual desire or interest) occur?" Female partners of men with ED reported significant declines in the proportion of time they "almost always or most times" experienced desire, arousal, orgasm, and the proportion of time they were "very or moderately" satisfied with sexual activity subsequent to their partner developing ED. Pain with sexual activity was not affected. Overall, the development of ED had a profoundly negative effect on the sexual experience of the female partners of men with this sexual dysfunction sexual dysfunction
