Felicita Saiez Honored by the Society of Women Engineers with 2004 Fellow Membership.

CHICAGO -- Felicita Saiez recognized at SWE's annual conference for her continuing service to SWE and its members and her contributions to the field.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) today named Felicita Saiez, president & CEO of LICI, Inc., a 2004 Fellow member of the Society in recognition of her leadership in the community, contributions to the engineering profession, dedicated mentorship of young women, and service and commitment to the mission of the Society of Women Engineers.

An engineering management consultant specializing in systems integration and project engineering, Saiez is president & CEO of LICI, Inc., which she founded in 1999. She formerly served on the Board of Directors of Applied Technology Solutions, Inc. and was vice president of Software Engineering, eBusiness Connectivity at WorldRes.com. Saiez has 25 years of engineering experience in emerging technologies and applications development and also serves on the Board of Directors of cVision and as an Advisor to inSchool.com. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Ohlone College as well as an extension instructor at University of California, Berkeley, and serves as chair of the Women in Engineering Advisory Committee at Ohlone College.

Saiez is also president & co-founder of the Global Institute for Technology & Engineering (GIFTE), a non-profit educational organization dedicated to elevating the status of women in the international technology and engineering workforce. She is the immediate past president of the Silicon Valley Engineering Council (SVEC), the Alliance for Engineering Leaders in the Silicon Valley, serves on the Board of Directors of the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS), and is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science, the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the Order of the Engineer.

As the FY2000 SWE National Vice President of Education, Saiez managed the career guidance, scholarship, and student activities programs of the Society during her term. She served as the FY1999 National Treasurer, the National Fund Development Chair, the National Continuing Development Committee Chair, the National Publications Committee Chair, and served as a member of the SWE Magazine Editorial Board, Career Guidance Committee, Awards Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and the National Nominating Committee. On the local level, Saiez has served in many roles including: Section President and Section Representative for the Baltimore/Washington Section, South Ohio Section Vice President, and Santa Clara Valley Section First Vice President and Section Representative.

Saiez received a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering from Boston University and earned an M.S. degree in operations research from Stanford University.

The 2004 Fellows will be formally recognized Saturday night, October 16 at the Society of Women Engineers' National Conference Celebrate SWE Banquet in Milwaukee, Wis. The National Conference, "Engineers Leading Change," is being held at Milwaukee's Midwest Airlines Center on October 14-16. The more than 3,000 attendees include professionals from every discipline of the engineering profession and a large number of engineering students and educators. The 2005 Conference is scheduled for November 3-5, in Anaheim, Calif.
