Feith Systems Announces New Optional Components for Its Imaging Solution.

FORT WASHINGTON Fort Washington, military post during the American Revolution, situated on the highest point of Manhattan island, New York City, overlooking the Hudson River opposite Fort Lee, N.J. , Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 2, 1998--Feith Systems & Software, Inc. has introduced a number of new features for and enhancements to the Feith Document Database (FDD (1) Abbreviation for floppy disk drive. See floppy disk.

(2) (Frequency Division Duplexing) A transmission method that separates the transmitting and receiving channels with a guard band (some amount of spectrum that acts as a buffer or insulator).
), a complete imaging, document management, COLD and workflow The automatic routing of documents to the users responsible for working on them. Workflow is concerned with providing the information required to support each step of the business cycle.  solution. These new options allow customers to take even greater advantage of the efficiencies offered by enterprise-wide imaging.

"At Feith, it is extremely important for us to keep our products evolving along with our customers' changing needs and the emerging demands of the marketplace," said President Don Feith. "We always listen carefully to what our customers tell us and make every effort to incorporate their ideas into our imaging solutions. This strategy has served us well, and these latest FDD options are a direct reflection of that approach."

The new FDD options include:

FDD Alert! The FDD Alert! provides a database mechanism that notifies users when something has occurred in the system. This add-on server component enables advanced workflow processes within FDD by sending an alert when a document arrives in a bin or file cabinet. The FDD Alert! Wizard Instructional help in an application or system development environment that guides the user through a series of multiple choice questions to accomplish a task. For the most part, wizards are more effective than the help menus found in most applications, which often border on the atrocious.  lets the user specify which actions to monitor and what activity should be initiated when those actions are detected. These activities may include sending an email message, emailing the document, routing the document, saving a text file, appending a text file, printing a message, printing the document or executing a command on the server. FDD Alert! supports the Oracle Alerts features. It is available to customers now.

Job Sweeper The FDD Job Sweeper automates and greatly simplifies the handling of documents. It searches directories for incoming files of any specified type (based on file extensions) and associates them with any specified application. This allows large volumes of documents to be easily and efficiently managed. The Job Sweeper is highly configurable and is available now.

FDD Quick Integrator (1) In electronics, a device that combines an input with a variable, such as time, and provides an analog output; for example, a watt-hour meter.

(2) See systems integrator.
2 (FDDQI 2) FDDQI 2 provides seamless connectivity between FDD and host- and server-based applications. It works by directly importing information from listboxes, textboxes and other Windows controls, and also supports integrated screen scraping Acquiring data displayed on screen by capturing the text manually with the copy command or via software. Web pages are constantly being screen scraped in order to save meaningful data for later use.  with character mode screens running in a PC terminal emulation Using software in a desktop machine to make it perform like a hardware terminal. The emulated terminal is typically in the VT100-500 family, designed originally by Digital Equipment.  window. FDDQI 2 allows users to integrate at a high level into Netscape Navigator An earlier Web browser for Windows, Macintosh and X Windows from Netscape that provided secure transmission over the Internet. Soon after its introduction in 1994, Navigator, or just "Netscape," as it was commonly called, quickly became the leading browser on the Web.  and use the information displayed in Netscape's HTML HTML

Forms (window). This FDD feature will be available Q3 '98.

Virtual File Cabinet Wizard This option lets users create virtual file cabinets based on existing file cabinets. It also enables restricted views of file cabinets, allowing users to show fewer fields or only some records. Advanced features also let users display data from other database tables, such as showing documents created on that day or showing the supervisor and department along with the employee's record. The Virtual File Cabinet Wizard is easy to implement and will be available Q3 '98.
