by Line, Simultaneous Answer of Both Lines

With 22.3 million American households now wired for two telephone lines, having a second line is becoming a sign of our connected age.

With that in mind, telecommunications Communicating information, including data, text, pictures, voice and video over long distance. See communications.  pioneer Casio PhoneMate Inc. Tuesday announced the TA-180, a two-line all-digital answering machine with speakerphone speak·er·phone

that enables the two-line home and small- office/home-office user to manage the influx of incoming messages with a single telephone-answering device (TAD).

The TA-180 can answer both lines simultaneously, thereby preventing callers from receiving a busy signal or no answer when the other line is occupied.

If the user is on an important call and a new call is received on the second line, the TA-180 can issue a prerecorded pre·re·cord

the second caller that a call is already in progress. The prerecorded message -- "Thank you for calling. Your call will be answered shortly" -- is repeated until the user or the TA-180 answers the call.

"Whether your home hosts an office or your family is simply as busy as a home office, the TA-180 allows you to respond like a central office voice-mail system, but without the complexity or the ongoing expense," said Stephen Knuth, president, Casio PhoneMate.

"Addressing both lines with the one device, you can manage incoming calls and messages from two lines, listen and store messages from both lines combined or by line, and answer both lines simultaneously either by voice or a broadcast message. You can ensure that no call goes unanswered, thanks to a single machine that's high-tech yet flexible and remarkably easy to use."

Until now, no two-line answering device acknowledged the second caller; instead, new incoming calls were left to ring without response or received a busy signal.

The TA-180 takes full advantage of all-digital technology. With a capacity of 28 minutes of high-quality digital recording time, the TA-180 enables users to retrieve messages from each line together or separately. The unit includes Advanced Message Management, providing selective save and erase, instant access and variable-speed playback of messages for greater control.

On either line, users can talk hands-free and place calls on hold using the two-line speakerphone with "true hold," which automatically releases a call when an extension phone is picked up.

The TA-180's unique voice time/day/line stamp labels each message according to according to

The TA-180's lifetime message protection digitally stores messages and greetings using flash memory, avoiding loss in the event of a power failure. Users can record two greetings that can answer calls in three ways for two-line flexibility.

Message playback allows users to play new or all messages on both lines combined, or by individual line. The TA-180's voice-assisted operation confirms machine functions and commands using a synthesized syn·the·sized
