Fee freeze at world's top course.

BOSSES at one of the world's best-known golf courses have frozen green fees.

St Andrews Links Trust said fees for their courses, including the Old Course which will host next year's Open Championship, will stay the same next year.

Trustees "carefully considered the difficult economic conditions" before deciding on the freeze.

The high season fee for the Old Course will remain at pounds 130.

Alan McGregor, chief executive of the trust, said the freeze aimed at "sending out a message that we recognise times are difficult and that we want to encourage golfers to come here".
