The group was based near Ballona Creek, in Culver City, California, USA, on the Pacific Coast. Hughes Aircraft was acquired by General Motors in 1985. missile projects LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. -- Hughes Aircraft Co. said it has recently received a federal administrative subpoena for records on four of its tactical missile programs -- the Navy air-to-air Phoenix, the Air Force air-to-ground Maverick, the Air Force AMRAAM AMRAAM Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile and the Army anti-tank TOW. Most of the work on the missiles is done at the company's facilities in Tucson, Ariz. It could not be determined why the government issued the subpoena but usually the action is taken when the government believes it has been overcharged. Hughes spokesman Richard Dore said the company has until Jan. 3 to respond to the subpoena. |
