Federation wants interest rates slashed.


ENGINEERING businesses in North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  and Merseyside want interest rates to be slashed again to head off a slump in the economy.

The Engineering Employers' Federation, which has more than 400 member companies in the region, says that the deteriorating de·te·ri·o·rate

To diminish or impair in quality, character, or value:
 global economy presents a greater threat to both manufacturing and consumer confidence than any risk to inflation.

Its call for a further cut in interest rates comes just days before the monetary policy committee of the Bank of England Bank of England, central bank and note-issuing institution of Great Britain. Popularly known as the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street, its main office stands on the street of that name in London.  meets next week.
