Federation of Internet Solutions Providers of the Americas Endorses the BellSouth FloridaMIX.

The Board of Directors of the Federation of Internet Internet

Publicly accessible computer network connecting many smaller networks from around the world. It grew out of a U.S. Defense Department program called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), established in 1969 with connections between computers at the
 Solutions Providers of the Americas (FISPA FISPA Florida Internet Service Providers Association ) announced today that it has endorsed the BellSouth Florida Multimedia Internet Exchange See IXP and NAP.  (FloridaMIX). The endorsement of FISPA is a signal to its 157 members of the viability of BellSouth's Internet access See how to access the Internet.  exchange facility.

"We are encouraging businesses and ISP's to work with BellSouth's FloridaMIX," said FISPA Executive Director Joe Marion. "We found it to be a first class network platform with a next generation design that will prove to be a real asset to the development of South Florida technology industry."

BellSouth is currently close to agreements in downtown Miami Downtown Miami is the central business district of Miami-Dade County and Miami, Florida. Brickell Avenue/Biscayne Boulevard is the main north-south road in downtown, and Flagler Street is the main east-west road in the Central Business District.  and South Palm Beach County for facilities to place two of the four FloridaMIX nodes. Locations for the West Miami-Dade and Broward County nodes were announced last month.

"BellSouth actually designed the FloridaMIX to accommodate FISPA members. The speed and flexibility of the FloridaMIX will give Internet solution providers a new and advanced technology to work with. The BellSouth FloridaMIX is being designed to be the fastest Internet access exchange facility in the world by employing an Intelligent Optical Network fabric. The FloridaMIX provides virtually unlimited bandwidth and will support varied multimedia applications.
