Federated's home page provides four main categories of up-to-date information on the company and its retail divisions:

o Company Operations covers complete corporate and

divisional structure, as well as overall information on the

company's philosophy, performance, merchandising strategies,

history, management and community involvement. Division

sections include profiles of the company's retail operations,

as well as full lists of store locations and the latest news

from that division. Customers also can use this section to

click on a U.S. map to find the Federated store most

convenient to them, and can get frequently called corporate

and division phone numbers.

o Financials includes excerpts from the company's most

recent Form 10-K Form 10-K

A report required by the SEC from exchange-listed companies that provides for annual disclosure of certain financial information.

o Corporate Data Retrieval lists recent press releases and

In a related development, Macy's "WeddingLine" also is slated to go on-line March 15 as the first customer service web site for a Federated store division. "WeddingLine", found at http://www.weddingline.com, will be dedicated exclusively to wedding planning and services, releasing new editorial issues monthly and reaching out to cyberspace Coined by William Gibson in his 1984 novel "Neuromancer," it is a futuristic computer network that people use by plugging their minds into it! A monthly "WeddingLine" newsletter will feature topics such as wedding planning tips, honeymoon and travel ideas, fashion and beauty suggestions and bridal registry A bridal registry is a system designed by department stores for the purpose of allowing an engaged couple to manage the purchase of gifts for their wedding. From what is available at the store, the couple creates a list of items that they would like to receive, then the list is  tips. Additional information will be available on in-store bridal events, gift ideas and registry services, and couples can register to win an expenses-paid honeymoon by bringing a "WeddingLine" contest coupon to their local Macy's bridal registry desk.

Eventually, all Federated divisions will have access to Internet e-mail via Microsoft Exchange. Future plans include a Web Server located at FSG to provide a platform for Federated Web pages.

At Burdines, the division plans to begin offering apparel and home merchandise via Time Warner's "Dream Shop" Internet site, beginning in early summer.
