:FD)(NYSE Arca:FD) today announced that it has been ranked number 20 on the 2006 DiversityInc "Top 50 Companies for Diversity" list.

Federated is the only retailer to make the Top 50 list. The DiversityInc list, in its sixth successful year of empirically and objectively demonstrating corporate diversity success, is considered the nation's most credible business list for diversity.

A total of 256 companies, a 100 percent increase over the last three years, competed for a spot on the highly coveted cov·et

New this year was the requirement that companies on The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list demonstrate consistent strength in the four areas the survey measures. Also, more weight was given to CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Commitment, the most crucial of the four areas measured. The others are Human Capital, Corporate Communications and Suppler Diversity.
