Federal Grant: The federal Department of Energy selected a team of companies and organizations including Pasadena-based Calstart to receive grant funding to begin a new alternative fuel network in the state. The grant will provide partial funding to build publicly accessible E85 stations around California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W). . Currently, there is only one public ethanol ethanol (ĕth`ənōl') or ethyl alcohol, CH3CH2OH, a colorless liquid with characteristic odor and taste; commonly called grain alcohol or simply alcohol.  station in the state.
