Federal Acquisition Institute: program and project management certification program.


The Office of Federal Procurement The fancy word for "purchasing." The purpose of this certification program is to establish the competencies, training, and experience requirements for program and project managers in civilian CIVILIAN. A doctor, professor, or student of the civil law.  agencies. The FAC-P/PM focuses on essential competencies needed for program and project managers; the program does not include functional or technical competencies, such as those for information technology, or agency-specific competencies. The certification requirements shall be accepted by, at minimum, all civilian agencies as evidence that an employee meets the core competencies A core competency is something that a firm can do well and that meets the following three conditions specified by Hamel and Prahalad (1990):
  1. It provides customer benefits
  2. It is hard for competitors to imitate
  3. It can be leveraged widely to many products and markets.
