February 2003 IMS/PCB Book-to-Bill.IPC--Association Connecting Electronics Industries announced the findings from its monthly Interconnect Manufacturing Services (IMS (1) See IP Multimedia Subsystem. (2) (Information Management System) An early IBM hierarchical DBMS for IBM mainframes. IMS was widely implemented throughout the 1970s under MVS and continues to be used under z/OS. )/Printed Circuit Board (PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl. PCB in full polychlorinated biphenyl Any of a class of highly stable organic compounds prepared by the reaction of chlorine with biphenyl, a two-ring compound. ) Statistical Program. The IPC (1) (InterProcess Communication) The exchange of data between one program and another either within the same computer or over a network. It implies a protocol that guarantees a response to a request. PCB Presidents Council recently selected IMS as a better designation for the PCB industry, to better reflect the services provided to customers. The U.S. IMS/PCB Industry Book-to-Bill Ratio Book-to-Bill Ratio The technology industry's demand-to-supply ratio for orders on a "firm's book" to number of orders filled. Notes: This ratio tells whether the company has more orders than it can deliver (if greater than 1), has the same amount of orders that it can for February 2003 was 1.03. Sales billed (shipments) in February 2003 decreased 23.6% from February 2002, and orders booked decreased 16.2% from February 2002. Compared to 2002, bookings of PCBs are down 18.8% year-to-date, while shipments of PCBs are down 23.4% year-to-date. The ratio is calculated by averaging the number of orders booked over the past three months and dividing by the average sales billed during the same period. [GRAPHIC OMITTED] |
