She believes the strong sales were the result of a very favorable reception of the company's back-to-school assortments. Thus, she believes margin trends were also strong during August. While Kloppenburg has not yet spoken with AEOS management, she believes there is an upside to her $0.37 third quarter EPS estimate.

Can Kansas City Southern Keep Its Janus Spin-Off on Track? http://www.personalwealth.com/prn23

Kansas City Southern Industries (NYSE:KSU), originally a railroad company, has long planned to spin off its financial businesses, which are dominated by its majority stake in Janus Capital. Now that spin-off, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, may be veering dangerously off track. According to analysts and investors, Janus and Kansas City Southern are locked in a test of wills over how the spin-off will be executed and who will be in control when -- and if -- it's completed.

Sears: Come See the Softer Side of Sales http://www.personalwealth.com/prn03

Sears (NYSE:S) says that due to softness in current retail sales trends and lower than expected retail gross margin rates, it sees EPS of $0.63 to $0.67 in the third quarter. As a result, the retailing giant sees its 1999 EPS growth rate in the low single digits. Also, the company posted flat August same store-sales.
