Fayette County Selects Plexis Group to Provide E911 and Parcel Mapping Services.

Responding to emergency situations is getting a little easier in Fayette County Fayette County is the name of eleven counties in the United States:
  • Fayette County, Alabama
  • Fayette County, Georgia (Located in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area)
  • Fayette County, Illinois
  • Fayette County, Indiana
  • Fayette County, Iowa
 due to the purchase of Emergency 911 (E911) and parcel mapping services from Indianapolis-based Plexis Group. Plexis Group will begin electronic mapping all of the addresses in Fayette County. After validating the existing addresses, Plexis Group will create a computerized computerized

adapted for analysis, storage and retrieval on a computer.

Plexis Group's E911 mapping provides law enforcement officials as well as paramedics and fire departments with the capability of viewing the electronic mapping system in order to determine the location of 911 callers. This E911 service gives emergency personnel the ability to respond more quickly and better prepared to 911 calls, which in turn could result in more lives saved.

Plexis Group will also provide parcel-mapping services to Fayette County. In previous years, these parcel maps (Data West Research Agency definition: see GIS glossary.) The basic drawings (maps) of the land cadastre (ownership boundaries) for all public and private lands. Parcel maps are typically maintained at a variety of scales, and can be either very precise or very general "cartoon maps"  were drawn by hand - leaving the county with only one copy of the parcel map. Because several county employees must have access to parcel maps and the information they contain, Fayette County turned to Plexis Group to convert its paper parcel maps into electronic maps. Utilizing Plexis Group's digital maps will allow Fayette County's land management to become more efficient as several county officials will be able to access these parcel maps on their personal computers via a countywide coun·ty·wide
