Fay Shapiro named publisher of O'Dwyer Co.


Fay Shapiro, most recently senior director of marketing and media relations at Market Wire in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , has joined the O'Dwyer Co. in New York New York, state, United States

 as publisher. It looks like a publisher's dream--rather, two publishers' dreams. From 1989 to 2000, she was the publisher of Oxbridge Communications Inc., New York, whose titles include Oxbridge Directory of Newsletters and Oxbridge Standard Periodical periodical, a publication that is issued regularly. It is distinguished from the newspaper in format in that its pages are smaller and are usually bound, and it is published at weekly, monthly, quarterly, or other intervals, rather than daily.  Directory.

From 2000 to 2004, she was vice president of the Media Directory Product Group of BurellsLuce, handling development of the company's first Media Directory Online Service.

Her strong background in directory publishing will serve her well at O'Dwyer's, which publishes a number of directories for the public relations industry--both online and in print--as well as Jack O'Dwyer's Newsletter (NL/NL 2/15/05).

She is in charge of marketing, PR, advertising sales, and circulation promotion for the O'Dwyer products. Among other activities, Shapiro is arranging PR-media panels in Chicago and New York in April and May to celebrate the 35th edition of O'Dwyer's Directory of PR Firms

O'Dwyer, for his part, will still come to work in the same office on Madison Avenue Madison Avenue, celebrated street of Manhattan, borough of New York City. It runs from Madison Square (23d St.) to the Madison Bridge over the Harlem River (138th St.). In the 1940s and 50s, some of the major U.S.  in which he started his business 37 years ago.
