FTP projects that the acquisition will double the traffic on The Development Exchange family of Web site, already the largest independent site dedicated to computer programming.

inquiry.com is a reference Web site for professionals buying computer equipment or software. It is complementary to FTP's own The Development Exchange (DevX), an independent Web site for Windows(R) development professionals. The acquisition of inquiry.com enables FTP to expand its content with the Ask the Pro forums and to share traffic between both Web sites -- making it an even greater information resource to IT professionals.

inquiry.com will continue to operate as an independent Web site within the DevX suite of Web sites. DevX is already the most popular, independent site for programmers This is a list of programmers notable for their contributions to software, either as original author or architect, or for later additions.

"inquiry.com has become one of the most respected and well trafficked IT sites on the Web and many IT professional have come to trust and depend on it," said James E. "The combination of inquiry.com's Ask the Pro and The Development Exchange's product reviews, gigabytes of downloadable code and technical articles, discussions groups and other resources for professional programmers will increase traffic throughout our Web sites. And, it will give users an even greater level of technical information from the URL's they're accustomed to using."

Said Reed Taussig, president and founder of inquiry.com: "The acquisition of inquiry.com's very popular Ask The Pro by Fawcette Technical Publications enriches the depth and value of the content we created and provides continuity of the service to our customers. There has been an historical affinity between Fawcette and inquiry.com and we are very pleased that Ask the Pro will continue to be available to the three million IT professionals that have visited inquiry.com over the past 18 months."
