Fawcette Technical Publications Acquires's URL and Ask the Pro Services.

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 1997--Fawcette Technical Publications (FTP), the leading independent publisher of information on programming, today announced the acquisition of's URL and Ask the Pro Web site.

FTP projects that the acquisition will double the traffic on The Development Exchange family of Web site, already the largest independent site dedicated to computer programming. is a reference Web site for professionals buying computer equipment or software. It is complementary to FTP's own The Development Exchange (DevX), an independent Web site for Windows(R) development professionals. The acquisition of enables FTP to expand its content with the Ask the Pro forums and to share traffic between both Web sites -- making it an even greater information resource to IT professionals. will continue to operate as an independent Web site within the DevX suite of Web sites.
