Faulding Receives FDA Approval for Acyclovir Tablets.

, Purepac Pharmaceutical Co., has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market acyclovir tablets, it was announced today by Richard F. Moldin, president and chief executive officer of Faulding Inc.

"Our 400 mg and 800 mg acyclovir tablets are the generic equivalent of Zovirax(R) brand tablets marketed by Glaxo Wellcome, Inc., an antiviral drug which is indicated for the treatment of herpes viruses. Purepac Pharmaceutical Co. plans a prompt commercial launch of this product, which in 1996 had brand sales of approximately $240 million," explained Moldin.
